Description
In the world, 1 out of 6 youth have neurodevelopmental and related-mental health disorders. It can affect everything from friendships to educational performance. In fact, they have a higher risk of school dropout, lost of self-esteem, and even worse, have a life expectancy reduced by 10 to 20 years.
Today, only 8% are diagnosed because of the clinical complexity, but also since the evaluation process takes 2 to 4 years, involving several trained health practitioners whose are limited resources. Therefore, new alternatives are needed.
The XAI4Kids project combine AI, biometry, and clinical expertise to support health professionals with diagnosis and therapeutic decision-making. Information is gathered through intelligent sensors to capture multi-dimensional symptoms related to neurodevelopmental disorders and ADHD, in particular.
Children play on a tablet for 30 min, games that trigger specific brain processes. Video, touch-trajectory or clicks along with and the answers to medical questionnaires are analyzed through AI-models. Like a blood test report but for mental states, we are creating biometrics with a clinical relevance, that will be higher or below the norm. These later will provide a personalized report interface easily understood to all.
Our ultimate mission is to empower children to thrive and get a happy life, as diagnosis is the 1srt therapy for neurodevelopmental and mental disorders that avoid 80% of school dropout and as much as suffer for children, parents, and health professionals.
